The Clos Lucé : at 500 m
Home of Leonardo da Vinci…
Built by Hugues d’Amboise around 1110, the Château du Clos Lucé becomes a summer secondary residence very frequented when the court of France resides in Val de Loire.
This is how François 1er receives his friends or protected there and Le Clos Lucé becomes the home of the most famous of them: Leonardo da Vinci, painter, engineer, architect of genius and philosopher.
He lived there for the last three years of his life (1516 – 1519).
Everything here, in the halls or in the park, is made so that the memory of this illustrious host is honoured.
The visit allows to discover the room of Leonardo da Vinci and in the rooms of the basement a collection of forty prodigious machines that he designed and designed, such as the glider, the aerial screw or a tank of assault…
The castle is surrounded by the “Leonardo da Vinci Park”, seven hectares dedicated to the master’s work, his landscapes and botanical drawings.
